  • Water: 300 milliliters
  • Eggs: 1-2, beaten
  • Octopus: 100 grams, cooked and diced into small pieces
  • Tenkasu (Tempura scraps): A handful
  • Pickled Ginger: Finely chopped, to taste
  • Green Onions: Finely chopped, to taste

Equipment:

  • Takoyaki Pan: A special pan with half-spherical molds

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Batter:

    • In a large mixing bowl, combine 100 grams of takoyaki powder with 300 milliliters of water.
    • Add the beaten eggs to the mixture and stir until you achieve a smooth batter.
  2. Heat the Takoyaki Pan:

    • Preheat the takoyaki pan over medium heat. Lightly grease each mold with oil.
  3. Pour the Batter:

    • Pour the batter into the molds, filling them completely.
  4. Add the Fillings:

    • Place a piece of diced octopus into each mold.
    • Add a small amount of tenkasu, pickled ginger, and green onions into each mold for extra flavor and texture.
  5. Cook the Takoyaki:

    • Allow the batter to cook for a couple of minutes until the edges start to set.
    • Use a takoyaki pick or a skewer to turn each piece 90 degrees. Continue cooking and turning the balls until they are evenly golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  6. Serve:

    • Once cooked, remove the takoyaki from the pan and place them on a serving plate.
    • Traditionally, takoyaki is served with takoyaki sauce, mayonnaise, bonito flakes, and aonori (seaweed flakes).
